TEST:  FULL PULMONARY FUNCTION TEST (HATE THIS ONE)

WHAT IT IS: MEASURING SPIROMETRY, LUNG VOLUMES AND TRANSFER – Guide to how your lungs are working

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE:

You will sit in a glass box and breathe through a mouthpiece with a noseclip on.  Tests are repeated several times, requiring considerable effort and may hurt. Spirometry measures how well you breathe in and out by blowing as hard and fast as you can.  (not very usuallly).

Lung Volumes test is undertaken with door to glass box closed.

Gas Transfer measures how easily oxygen passes from your lungs into your blood by inhalation of a harmless gas.  This tends to make people dizzy and disorientated.

This is because I am still having trouble with my lungs and am also found to be putting a strain on my heart as I am stopping breathing intermittantly.

Lets hope they get me sorted soon

**** Addendum

I have now received appointment to attend on 4th September to be fitted with a CPAP
